Adana is a city established at both sides of the Seyhan River, with an area of 14.030 km². The city centre is 23 meters high from the sea. Adana is between the 35 ° -38 ° latitutes and the 34° – 36° longitutes. The city has a 160 km long seashore.
The city’s land gradually gets higher from south to north and is 2500 meters high upon reaching Taurus Mountains. Up until the 700-800th km. it is covered with a thicket green stuff called ‘maki’ due to the climatic conditions. In the places higher than 800 meters, tree types like oak and cedar can be seen. 27% of Adana’s land consists of plain, 24% of hollow area and 49% of mountainous area.
The northwestern, northern and northeastern parts of the city are surrounded by the Middle Taurus Mountains. There three different ridges along the Middle Taurus Mountains. |

Adana Kebab is a sort of Kebab which is made of joint meat minced by a cleaver-like knife. The most distinguishing feature of Adana Kebab is the mutton that is used. The mutton must be got of the male sheep which is bred in its natural environment and in the upland areas which has a flora peculiar to it. The production technique and mastery adds to the product significantly. While the mixture is being prepared the ingredients used are; pepper paste, red pepper flakes, black pepper and the fat from lamb tail. A ventilator definitely must not be used while cooking. Its must be served with parsley, mint, onion salad garnished with sumac and salad as garnitures. It definitely can not be cooked with veal. It is cooked only with mutton, fat from lamb tail, red pepper flakes and salt. |

Cotton provides for the textile industry with its fiber, for the vegetable oil industry with the cottonseed oil, for the feed industry with its preputium and oil cake and also for the cellulose industry with its fibers. Adana meets the most part of the cotton need of Turkey. |
